Post Christmas get away

TAMARA M.

Loved the property! Condo was exactly as details in listing suggested. There is access to all that is needed (towels, chairs, coolers, snorkel equipment) to either stay in Rum Point area or travel to any of the other public beaches. We loved that it was away from the crowds in the Seven Mile Beach area. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quite place to stay with still plenty to do.

Owner's Response:

Hello Tamara. Thank you for taking a time to review your stay with us. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay and we are looking forward to having you again as a guest in our Island House. If you’re traveling to our area soon, don’t hesitate to call us. Warm Regards,

Zuzana and Lennert

Great week!

Pauline D.

Had a great week! House was perfect for us - 2 retired couples. The kayaks were a nice addition, allowing us to get out on bio-luminescence bay at night. What an experience - definitely a must. We used the bikes to get around the local area including Starfish Beach. A tour out to Stingray Point is another must. Thank you Zuzana & Lennert.

Owner's Response:

Rum Point condo

Julie P.

We loved our stay on Grand Cayman!

The condo is on the Rum Point area of the island and close to many activities. Our stay was quiet and relaxing. If you enjoy doing your own cooking this place is great, just plan to arrive any day but Sunday as most stores are closed. Chisholms does have a small store nearby that is open Sundays.

The owners were super easy to deal with online and we very much enjoyed the entire experience.

Owner's Response:

Dear John,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review. We appreciate all details provided in your feedback. We are very happy to see, that you and your family enjoyed your stay. It was pleasure for us to have you as our guests. We hope, we can host you again in future.

1st Time to Cayman

Jeff Y.

As this was our first time to the Cayman Islands I did quite a bit of research prior to our arrival. I could not have been happier with the accommodations. They were exactly as described and everything (snorkel gear, coolers, chairs, beach equipment, kayaks etc) were in great condition. The house was just steps away from Rum Point and Red Sail Sports which was very handy.

We will definitely recommend to friends and family!

Owner's Response:

Dear Jeff,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review. We appreciate all details provided in your feedback. We are very happy to see, that you and your family enjoyed your stay. It was pleasure for us to have you as our guests. We hope, we can host you again in future.

Perfect area!

Loved our stay here! Enjoyed the area so much especially the fact we were away from the hustle and bustle. The property was quaint and clean and perfect for our family. The owner was informative and responsive! Absolutely loved our stay and the Rum Pount area!

We could have easily turned two weeks into four weeks here at your lovely Island House at Cayman Kai. Everything was so lovely and comfortable.

Thank you for the your lovely Island House. It is rare that we find a home away from home! We loved the Cayman Island. It has been our most restful vacation, yet we still got to do many things. We loved the Stingrays!

I didn't get a chance to leave feedback at the house as we spent to much time relaxing at the beach with a "Rum Point Sunset" in hand. I wanted to thank you for your initial call to us regarding your the Island House and the time spent educating us about the island and locals. I am so thankful as we all decided that the best place to stay on Grand Cayman is the Island House at Cayman Kai. The perfect location for nothing but relaxation. We ventured into Georgetown, the West End and Seven Mile Beach area and were overwhelmed with all the people and crowded beaches. Our children enjoyed the lagoon area with the hermit crabs, jellyfish, land crabs and fish. They had a wonderful time playing with the swim noodles and rafts and my husband and I took turns snorkeling off the beach. If we had initially stayed on Seven Mile Beach I'm certain we would have been greatly disappointed as our whole intent was relaxation. One of our best nights was spent at Cecil's out on the lanai watching the sunset. I am  back to work almost depressed as I miss the beach and the house. Our last night there we hung out on the hammocks watching the stars (which I haven't seen that many stars in years) as both my girls cried because we had to go home.

We had a wonderful vacation in the Cayman Islands.  It was so beautiful, with great weather, nice people and your home is very pretty.  We went swimming with the sting rays. Several days it was windy so we drove to the south side of the island to beaches (Spotts) to get away from the wind.  The snorkeling was amazing, I have never seen so many conch shells. Staying in Rum Point was great, it was nice to be able to walk across the street to the beach and to eat. The whole family got a kick out of the rental car with the steering wheel on the opposite side and driving on the left side. It was a wonderful vacation and we look forward to our next visit. Thank you for all of your advice with the house, pool and kayak. We did try the kayak one evening in the lagoon and everyone had fun.  Thanks again and we hope to get back there soon.

We had the "MOST" relaxing vacation we have ever had! Since we've been to 7-mile before, and have seen most of the island, we felt compelled to lay on the beach, try ALL of the tropical drinks the Wreck Bar offered, go sailing, some diving, and some eating out, and a little shopping. The house was great and we were very happy we chose yours (we had looked at another home in the area that "claimed" to be within walking distance to the beach, but in reality was not- we drove around and found it!). Our youngest used the kayak a couple of times (and we were sure to secure everything when we left), but mostly we loved the porch in the morning having coffee and enjoying the outstanding view! Thanks again- we Really all needed a break!!

WOW. What else can we say? This was by far the best vacation we ever had and we have been all over. Add us to the list of people who will be back. The big decision daily was should we walk across the street and snorkel all day, at Rum Point Beach, or walk out back and jump in the pool. Rum Point Beach was perfect. It has everything we could want. We ate lunches there and the dinners were exceptional. The gift shop had everything we would want. Red Sail and Captain Ebanks were great. Whatever you could want is just a walk across the street. It is so clean and I was so amazed that there were always open space and an available lawn chair. The Ferry shuttle to 7 Mile Beach was a great ride and allows you to spend the day at 7 Mile Beach and do so many things. Our favorite day at 7 Mile Beach was paragliding.
Everything was so perfect. The house was wonderful and the best touch for me was the bedroom set up. We bought a guest and to have 2 separate suites was wonderful. Since I also traveled with teenagers it was great for me to go upstairs and be able to watch cable TV and let them have the downstairs to blast music and play video games - we brought our own X Box.
The house had everything we needed. We did make it to 7 Mile Beach but were so happy to come back to paradise. It was so quiet at Cayman Kai. So beautiful and friendly. We loved the people, so kind and easy going. Everyone smiles and is friendly.
The Island is so beautiful and there is no bard part on it. We spent 2 full weeks and went everywhere.
Our favorite was snorkeling with the sting rays. What an experience. This is the only place in the world you can do this. We had to go again and again. My favorite memory was being able to hold one. This is a memory that will last forever. The sea turtle farm and butterfly farm are a must see. The submarine ride was also excellent for those of us who do not snorkel.
The food, it is so incredible. We could not believe, on such a small island ,there would be over 100 places to eat and all are so great. The service was superb and people so friendly. Conch Sushi was incredible. Our favorite place to eat was Kaibo Kai. We were regulars there. Every meal we had was a 4 star meal.
We felt so lucky to have found the Island House. There are many houses to rent but the pool was a wonderful extra. I lived at the pool and had it alone most days.
We all agreed that we had the best house and the best place to stay. We agreed to return next year, after only a few days on Grand Cayman. We could have stayed another week.
Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home.
Cheers, Cheryl Holmes, daughter and friend, Burlingame, CA

We are still trying to get our feet back on the ground after ten days in the Caymans!  The beaches and turquoise waters of Rum Point are perhaps the most beautiful in the world!  Thanks to Hurricane Ivan, there is now even more gorgeous white sand to enjoy!!  And better yet, thanks to Barefoot Lagoon for getting us so close to paradise...

We had a wonderful stay and want to thank you for such a nice place.  We had everything we needed, and were very appreciative of the bikes and snorkeling equipment. The island was fantastic, but wished we had a few more people staying in the other Island Houses as the kids were searching for friends.  Of course, as adults we didn't mind it because it meant more bonding time for us. This was one of the best vacations we've ever had as a family.  We feel so badly about the air conditioner breaking.  I alerted the management company immediately, and they reassured us that it was due to a blocked filter rather than anything we did. We also feel that we may have lost one of your lovely beach towels, so we replaced it with another nearly new towel that we hope will fill in for the other.  If you would prefer, we can send you a brand new one from Michigan. Thanks again for such a lovely time. We will definitely try to come back.

We loved the Island House. The best part was the screened in Patio.  We spent a lot of time there.  There was a breeze most of the time so we didn't use the air conditioning much. It was great to just walk across to the beach and snorkel.  We also snorkeled at Turtle Island.  That was awesome!  We also found a little beach area on the way to George Town that had the best snorkeling of all.  The Caymans is fairly expensive so we bought groceries for the week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Driving on the left side of the road was stressful but my husband did well after a couple of days.

Well, we are back in Cleveland, welcomed by a thunderstorm that provided a little roller coaster ride for the kids on the trip home. Thanks again for letting us stay at your home. It was wonderful! Rum Point was perfect for our small kids. They got a chance to get comfortable swimming and snorkeling before we took them over to Seven Mile Beach and Sting Ray city. Despite all the anxiety at the beginning of the trip (thanks to Hurricane Emily) we had absolutely perfect weather and your place was perfect. Anyone wishing to rent from you should be assured that the pictures on your website are accurate, and that if you are looking for a nice quiet relaxing vacation in a little piece of paradise, this is it! What was interesting was talking with your neighbors whose management company were not nearly as responsive as yours. -

    Dear Bob

We enjoyed our stay tremendously at the Barefoot Lagoon House of Cayman Kai. I would without a doubt recommend this holiday property to anybody wishing to visit Grand Cayman, whether it be their first trip or 20th trip! I truly believe that the house had one of the best locations on the whole island. It is walking distance to Rum Point Beach which is of course one of the greatest beaches our family have ever visited. We came to this beach 7 years ago and were happy to see that it hadn't changed in character one bit. It was our special piece of paradise and has everything for the family-snorkeling, volley ball, restaurant, margaritas and the world famous Mudslides! My husband was on a "working " holiday so he drove every day to Seven mile beach but said it was well worth the drive just to stay in a property like yours! It had every possible amenity you could think of! We never wanted to leave. We enjoyed taking out the kayak and swimming in the pool which was just steps from the house. We would not hesitate for a second to rent this Island house again when we decide to return to the Cayman Islands again!!

Thank you, we really appreciated it.

    Dear Robert,
My family and I would like to thank you. We had a wonderful time in Cayman. The weather was perfect, Rum Point was beautiful and the house could not be more perfectly located for us. We snorkeled every day off the beach. We took a wonderful trip with Red Sail straight from Rum Point to the Sand bar and Stingray City, they were fantastic. We got to see a Moray eel and hold the stingrays!!! We  got off the boat and walked back to the house, once again great location. We drove to Seven Mile twice in the week (Driving on the  left a little strange at first)- Just kept telling ourselves "left, left, left." Its a great place to visit (Seven Mile) to see stuff, turtle farm, great snorkeling at" cemetery reef", good restaurants, fun shopping, but I am so glad we stayed in Cayman Kai, so peaceful and relaxing. The Botanical Garden is a great place to visit too. I think there was one crazy day when the cruise ships came in and brought people to Rum Point, but otherwise it was like a private retreat. The house had everything we needed, it was great to open all the  windows and enjoy the island breezes. Walking to the Wreck Bar & Grill and snack bar at Rum Point was great for my family. Everyone had a great time. We had a wonderful dinner at Kaibo, please extend our thanks to the owner for the $75.00 gift certificate. Hope you had a wonderful Holiday and a Happy New year to you!!

      • Guest Dr. Kimberly Morden (North Street, MI)

I am finally getting around to thanking you for a truly wonderful vacation at your beautiful island home. Our vacation this past April was excellent and too short by far. It was my parents' first trip to Grand Cayman, and they have done nothing but rave about how clean and relaxing Barefoot Lagoon Island House was. They loved walking to Rum Point everyday for lunch, to relax, to look through their small shop, and to book a Stingray City tour. My step-father spent many hours relaxing by the pool, while my mom enjoyed the kayak and collecting shells near the lagoon. I can't tell you how much it means to me to have been able to share such a wonsderful place with them. They work so hard for everything they have. It was just great to see the stress melt away and the smiles on their faces. Oh yeah, my husband and I had smiles on our faces too! Everyone has already decided that we want to stay at your lovely home again the next time we are blessed with a trip to Grand Cayman.

      Sincerely, Dr. Kimberly Morden

      Awesome family getaway!

      • Guest Ampavlas (The Woodlands, TX)

The location of this house doesn't get any better! Literally steps from Rum Point, and a peaceful drive away from other parts of the island. Rum Point beach was perfect for my two kids, very shallow and calm. This house had everything we needed, including a portable crib and high chair for our baby. The lagoon in the back is beautiful, and the pool is just steps out the back door. We only stayed for a week, but we wish it had been longer. We will definitely come back!

      Best Vacation Ever!

      • Guest Rita (Fallbrook, Ca)

Well, it's the morning of our last day here at your Island House #11. I'm enjoying my last cup of coffee before we walk across the sand for one more round of jet skiing at Red Sail Sports. I cannot find enough words to properly convey the peace and tranquility we found here in your paradise. The Island House is well stocked with everything we needed, and more. The beds are big and comfortable, the TVs, air conditioning, balconies, lanai and BBQ grill were perfect! Within steps of the house we enjoyed snorkelling, kayaking, bike riding, swimming and searching out conch shells and coconuts. At Red Sail we loved the jet skis and glass-bottom boat to the sting rays, "Capt Jimmy" made sure I held a ray. Couldn't get enough of the Blackened Grilled Fish sandwich at Rum Point, and my son LOVED the Jerk Pork sandwich just as much. And of course the mudslides were yummy! It's tough to plan a vacation that's perfect for Mom & Dad as well as our 15 y.o. daughter and 20 y.o. son, but I've officially been deemed the "best vacation planner ever". Couldn't have done it without having the wonderful accommodations and amenities your Island House offered. We trekked across the island to George Town and 7 Mile Beach. The kids LOVED their Dolphin Swim, but we were delighted to get back to peaceful Cayman Kai. We got equal measure of relaxation and exhilarating activity, which was perfect for our family. Everything was so easily accessible that we felt like we did it all!! Mike, you were a delight to work with, very informative and so quick to respond to my millions of dumb questions. This is our first trip to Grand Cayman, we haven't left yet and already I'm thinking of a return visit. Before we get back to the rat-race of So. Calif. I needed to take a moment to say a heart-felt Thank You. Your home was everything as promised, we would love to stay here again!! I also need to thank you for your recommendation of McCurley's Car Rental. B.A. made it an extremely convenient no-brainier, and I'm glad we heeded your advice. Anyone considering a Cayman vacation would be wise to choose Rum Point and Island House #11.....just think, you too could be considered the "best vacation planner ever"!! Can't wait to return!!!

      Awesome place!

      • Guest SMABD (Thousand Oaks, CA)

We spent a week (Oct. 5-12) at the Barefoot Lagoon with another couple. What a perfect place for 2 couples or a family. The 2 bedrooms upstairs with private baths were sound proof and you never heard anyone get up. It was awesome to sit in the living room or porch and see the beautiful lagoon or take a ride up the lagoon in the kayak. It was so nice to go across the road and have the beach right there. Snorkeling was great right off the beach. Sunsets on the pier were beautiful! I can't say enough about the accomodations but PERFECT! We have rented on VRBO numerous times and have never dealt with such a gracious host like Mike. He manages to answer all your questions and supply you with tons of information and readily available to make your stay a memorable one. This has to be the best experience we have ever had on VRBO. Mike, if you ever need a reference, please have them contact us. Thanks, Mike we appreciate everything you did!

Thank you for an absolutely fabulous week in the Grand Cayman. Barefoot Island Lagoon House is perfectly located and we enjoyed the pool, the lagoon, and especially Rum Point Beach. We rented a car from McCurleys, which I highly recommend, and did travel around the entire island. We decided that Rum Point is the perfect location! We enjoyed snorkeling and kayaking and especially loved seeing the sting rays swimming in the water at Rum Point. An extra special thank you for the delicious dinner at the Kaibo - a real treat! We have rented several houses through VRBO and this is one of our favorites. Mike went above and beyond to answer all of our questions and it was a vacation that the Baker Family will long treasure. Thank you and can't wait to return!

      Most Enjoyable Vacation

      • Guest Dave

Barefoot lagoon was the most enjoyable vacation spot my family has ever chosen. We rented the house for a week and wish it had been two. My children loved having their own room, and the rest of the house was extremely comfortable. The kitchen was completely stocked including recipes from previous guests. We spent every morning out on the Lanai and then headed to Rum Point for the rest of the day. After spending the day on the beach the kids did like the option of a pool to play in at the end of the day , the pool was just a short walk out the door and the house provided floats for use. We are already planning out return trip for this year and plan on staying 10 days. This the the iedal location for Families to stay, away from crowded seven mile beach but still reachable by car in about 20 minutes.
